The vehicle discount scheme – money off your new car
The vehicle discount or car scrap scheme is a voluntary scheme for motor dealers. If a dealer joins (most have) you'll get £2,000 off your new car if you scrap your old one. The scheme will run from mid May 2009 to March 2010.
you do not have to take your car that you wish to part ex for the scheme to dealership,nor does it have to be in working order,just that it has belonged to you for the past 12 months,hence where we come in to place as the car collecter and crushers for the scheme.
How to take advantage of the Vehicle Discount (Car Scrap) Scheme
Contact your local dealer to see if they have joined the vehicle discount scheme. They will check that your car and the new car you want to buy both meet the rules of the scheme. When the sale is agreed, the dealer will sort out the paperwork and arrange for your old car to be scrapped. The car-scrapping arrangements can be pre-booked (below).
The discount is deducted from the price you pay for the new car and will be shown on your invoice when you take delivery.
The rules of the Vehicle Discount (Car Scrap) Scheme
The car you trade in and the new car you want to buy must meet certain conditions for you to be able to get the discount.
Your Car
The car you are trading in must:
be a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kilograms (kg) be first registered in the United Kingdom (UK) on or before 31 July 1999 either be registered or have a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in your name have been registered to you continuously for 12 calendar months before the order date of the new vehicle have a UK address on the registration certificate (V5C) have a current MOT test certificate before date of order for the new vehicle

The new car
The new car you want to buy must be:
a car or small van weighing up to 3,500 kg first registered in the UK on or after mid May 2009 declared new at first registration in the UK with no former keepers

In order to ensure the environmentally-friendly destruction of your scrap car in accordance with the new rules and regulations, only Authorised Treatment Facilities (DVLA licenced scrapyards) are able to complete the necessary paperwork (Certificate of Destruction) for your old car. There are a limited number of ATFs in the UK and, because of the popularity of this new government initiative, demand is likely to be high. If you know approximately when you will be buying your new car, it would be advisable to pre-book the scrapping / disposal. You can do this using the form below.
